Terms of Service
Last updated: September 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") explain, in plain language, what to expect when you use the sydneyhandyman.ca website or hire HandyPeople Victoria for senior home safety services. By using our services, you agree to these Terms.
Our Services
HandyPeople Victoria provides senior home safety and aging-in-place services, including:
- Free safety assessments
- Grab bar and handrail installation
- Accessibility modifications
- General home maintenance and minor repairs
Quotes and Pricing
- Quotes are estimates based on what you tell us and what we see during our visit
- If we find something unexpected once work begins, we'll explain it and get your approval before doing extra work or charging extra
- Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date given
Payment
- Payment is due upon completion of the work, unless we've agreed otherwise in writing
- We accept e-transfer, cheque, and major credit cards
- We will never ask for full payment before work is finished
Scheduling and Cancellations
- We do our best to arrive on time and keep to the schedule we agree on
- If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as you can — at least 48 hours if possible
- If weather or an emergency affects our schedule, we'll call you as soon as we know
Our Workmanship Guarantee
- We stand behind our work for 90 days after the job is finished
- This covers problems with our workmanship — it doesn't cover normal wear and tear or damage caused by others
- Products we install carry their manufacturer's own warranty
- If something isn't right, call us within 7 days of noticing it and we'll make it right
Insurance
HandyPeople Victoria carries $2 million in liability insurance and WorkSafeBC coverage. All technicians are background-checked. Proof of insurance is available on request.
Access to Your Home
By booking our services, you're allowing us to:
- Enter your home at the scheduled time to do the agreed work
- Use water and electricity as reasonably needed for the job
- Bring in the tools and materials needed to complete the work
Photos
We may take before-and-after photos of our work for our own records and for marketing. We will never share photos that show your address or identifying details without your permission. If you'd rather we not photograph your project, just let us know.
If a Disagreement Comes Up
If you're ever unhappy with our work, please tell us first — most issues are resolved with a phone call. If we can't resolve it together, disagreements will be handled through:
- Direct conversation with our management team
- Mediation, if needed
- Binding arbitration in Victoria, BC, as a last resort
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
